Join the EcoCommittee!
Aldenham School formally joined the EcoSchools project at the beginning of September - you can find out more about the project by clicking on the EcoSchools Icon below:
EcoSchools is a project run by students to look at the sustainability and eco-management of our school. During Thursday Activities students have been discussing the usage of energy and water, the management of litter, waste and recycling and the biodiversity and wildlife base of the grounds.
Currently we are completing the Environmental Review in preparation for publishing our Action Plan and applying for the EcoSchool's Bronze Award - watch this space!

ECOSCHOOLS SILVER AWARD
Working towards our SIlver Award there is criteria we need to fulfil in addition to the work we completed when working towards the Bronze. See below:
1. We need to be able to show where in the school curriculum eco-issues are covered. Where do we teach the nine topics?
2. Involving the school community - we already do this through the website and noticeboard, but now need o be working towards holding an assembly and raising our profile at school.
3. We need to impliment some of the recommendations made on our Action Plan and show that we have made a difference - we have been discussing a campaign to get people to switch off lights so perhaps data collected from the school electricity metres might be useful...
4. Write an Aldenham School EcoCode - decide what eco standards we will commit to as a school and share with the whole school community.
5. Project work - we need to show real progress on at least one of the EcoSchools nine topics - given the work on the garden and our move to increase the hedgehog population around Aldenham perhaps we should focus on Biodiversity and School Grounds topics.
6. Apply for our Silver Award!

Step 4 - Apply for.....
EcoSchools BRONZE AWARD!
We can apply for our first EcoSchools recognition once our Action Plan is complete - we hope to be doing this by Half Term....
Update - We did it!
See Aldenham School's EcoSchools BRONZE AWARD below!
Step 3 - Write an Action Plan:
Once it has been decided where our school could improve it is then necessary for students to complete an Action Plan - an outline of how we intend to help Aldenham work more sustainability by tackling the areas where we think we can do better.
